Event Rentals at the Byron Colby Barn

The Byron Colby Barn serves Lake County as a gathering place for all types of events, from wedding receptions to yoga classes.

The Barn can accommodate up to 180 guests for sit-down dinners or meetings. Additional seated guests can be accommodated with tent seating just outside the barn. Groups of up to 240 guests can be accommodated for cocktail parties and dancing. Barn rentals include use of 15 antique wooden tables on the main floor and 6 round tables in the loft, as well as 40 antique wooden chairs and 110 folding chairs. For live entertainment a stage is available free of charge.

The Barn features 15 wooden tables on the main floor and 6 round tables in the loft. In addition, we have 40 antique chairs and 110 folding chairs.

 

2010 & 2011

Fridays: $1995 ($600 deposit)
Saturdays & Saturday equivalents: $2395 ($700 deposit)

Sunday prices are flexible, and depend on the number of guests:

up to 75 guests: $995, and $1195 (2011)
76-90 guests: $1295, and $1495 (2011)
91-110 guests: $1495 and $1695 (2011)
111+ guests: $1895 (2010) and $1995 (2011)
All with a $600 deposit

Extra hours are $225 per hour extra
Gazebo at $250 w/free hour
Catering prices, everything included, food, service, table covering, glassware, silverware, napkins, tax begin at the low $20’s per person

The fee includes five hours; extra event hours are only $225 per hour more. There are no hidden charges!

We have an extensive list of caterers, with prices beginning at the low 20’s per person, everything included; food, service, table covering, glassware, silverware, napkins, tax. Choosing a caterer off the list is $125 extra. The caterer must have their own licensed commercial kitchen.

You may decorate the barn to your taste. We have decorative materials that you may use free of charge; A grape vine wreath candle lanterns and standing candelabras; the barn looks beautiful awash in candlelight! Reasonable preparation & rehearsal time is also free. You may get into the barn to decorate as early as 9am on Friday and Saturday and 11am on Sunday. Gorgeous photo sites are available for free at Prairie Crossing's gazebo, horse pasture, beach, prairie and the limestone overlook at Lake Aldo Leopold.

You and your guests will have access to Prairie Crossing's Market Square, a beautiful, tree-lined, bricked area behind the barn featuring benches and a grassy area. Use Market Square for your ceremony, and/or cocktails and hors d'oevres. The silo of the Byron Colby Barn is a most unique setting for the bar; you may purchase your own beverages to save money. Prairie Crossing's gazebo is one block from the Barn and can be rented for $250 for your ceremony; but it includes a free hour above the five. Guests may also mingle in front of the Barn at highboy cabaret tables.

To reserve the Barn, you will need to complete a rental agreement and return it along with the appropriate deposit. The deposit check will be cashed and will serve two purposes. First and most importantly, it reserves the date for your event. Second, it serves as a security deposit for the barn in case of any damage. This deposit money will be returned within eight business days after your event.
